Such a powerful outro to this beautiful rearrangement of George Harrison’s ‘Isn’t it a Pity' (1970).

I love the inverted groove as it uses mallets on the toms, anchoring the rhythm by locking in with the syncopated bass-line, neither of which play the down beats on 1&3 leaving the bass drum to play those notes. The hi-hat plays the 2&4 throughout.

The beautiful tones emitted using the mallets and cymbal crashes gives the rhythm a symphonic-like feel and capture the emotive lyrics and harmonic changes of this ‘Beatlesque’ song

As usual Jamie Harrison plays with great feel and is as solid as… Ned Baulderstone singing like a bird and Raf Azaria caressing the piano with great emotion…my neck muscles are fine, I’m totally immersed in the song…it was very moving to record.
