The Art of drumming

Laying down a heavily-layered Afrobeat (Afrofunk) variation in the tradition of its’ progenitor, Tony Allen (drummer with Nigerian legend Fell Kuti), though Tony was a very light player.

Ostinato right-hand orchestrated on the cowbell instead of the hi-hat with varying syncopated ‘call & answer’ snare and bass drum. The left-foot hi-hat keeps quaver time and not forgetting snare ghost notes which link the accents.

The aim is for each limb to be totally independent (dynamically also) of each other though coordinated. Session for my London friend Peter Langman 2020.
